They decided they wanted to go home with us a few years ago when we adopted them from a shelter. They are almost 5 years old now, we got them when they were 2. Their previous owner had passed away due to cancer, and her husband didn't want, or didn't know how to care for cats, so they were pretty neglected. Plenty of food and water and clean litter, but no human interaction and no other stimulation like toys or a window. They were terrified of the ceiling fan when we brought them home!
They seem to be doing fine now. |
This is Pixie. She gets first mention because she's the 'big' sister.
Cheese! |
She's 15 pounds of love and affection and can usually be found lazing about in a spot of sun somewhere, decorating the back of the couch, or curled into a nest of blankets she's arranged for herself in my bedroom. We always know when it's breakfast or dinner time, because she tells us. Loudly. For about an hour. She loves to lay on her back and have her belly rubbed. She also does a pretty impressive "Blue Steel."
Sexy and she knows it. |
We decided that Pixie was meant to be our cat when we noticed the marking on her neck resembled a clerical collar, and my husband will be ordained this summer. She's definitely a daddy's girl.
And this is Brownie, our high maintenance cat.
Do my bidding. |
She's very picky about a lot of things. We have to buy a specific brand of litter, because she'll pee on the rugs if we use *anything* else... and if the box isn't cleared out to her exact specifications, I also end up with pee soaked kitchen rugs. But she's also insanely affectionate and her favorite place to lay is on my shoulder. She is very vocal about wanting "lap time"... she will stalk my husband around the apartment until he sits down so she can jump in his lap. But don't try to pick her up. she hates it.
Throw the toy! |
She is 12 pounds of playful, affectionate fur. Her favorite thing is a string from a hoodie, and she will cart it around until someone plays with her. She also likes to laze about on her back, but don't touch her stomach. It's definitely a trap. If you're lucky, she'll just roll to her stomach... if you're not, you'll need a bandage.
I find them like this on a daily basis. |
They (mostly) love each other and can generally be found together. They also love that green recliner, because I tend to find them (one or both) in it. Usually when I've gotten up to check on dinner, or get something to drink, then I have to shoo them down so I can have my chair back. They also take the computer chair when I leave my desk.
Those are my furballs. I love them to bits!
