About Me

Hello there. :)

I started this blog mainly as a "notes to myself" sort of page. I wanted to be able to add recipes from various blogs that I love, my impressions on them, and any modifications I'd made to the recipes. I love to cook and bake and I enjoy being creative in the kitchen.

I'm also a sucker for a sale, and wanted to keep track of awesome sales that pop up at various retailers or individual items on places like Amazon. This blog is an Amazon affiliate, meaning Amazon links and ads - I've decided to keep it limited to just one in the side bar - to help me pay for my cooking addiction! It also helps our income, since we're living on limited funds right now.

Selling Tastefully Simple is another way I try to add some funds to the household. Gotta keep our kitties in kibble somehow! If you haven't heard of Tastefully Simple, I highly recommend checking it out. I tried some of their stuff, and loved it so much after ordering it that I signed up to be a consultant just so I could have easy access to the products.

I have a wonderful husband who has dragged me all around the country in the time I've known him. We met in Virginia, and have moved to South Carolina, out to Texas, and then back to South Carolina. Soon we will be moving again! I love him to pieces, and I'm so grateful that he showed up in my life when he did. He will be ordained as a pastor this summer, and his strength and devotion to his faith in Jesus really helped me solidify my own, which was on shaky ground when we met. (It's like God knew!) We are blessed. :)

Wuv.... Twoo Wuv...

We also have two spoiled rotten cats that keep us entertained with their shenanigans. Mostly they laze about in what seems like awkward positions, but they also muster up the energy to chase each other around the apartment or attack their toys. They are a very entertaining pair, especially when they start whining for affection. Brownie will cry until at us until she gets permission to jump up in our laps. So adorable.

Both of us are avid readers, and not so much television watchers. We do have our shows we like (Bones, Castle, Agents of SHIELD for my hubs), but mostly we'd prefer to pick up a book. I'm a pretty big fan of paranormal romance books, especially if they are part of a series... I love the escape from reality they provide. Sherrilyn Kenyon is my favorite, I have read almost all of her books across all of her various series. I love the stories, and the recurring characters, the dark heroes and the snappy dialogue, and the lots and lots of kick-ass chicks she features in her books. No weak and wimpy ladies for her heroes. I also enjoy Laurell K Hamilton, both Anita Blake and Merry Gentry series. Lynsay Sands and Karrelyn Sparks for their humor. Kresley Cole's 'Immortals After Dark' series is pretty great, too. I've also got Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series that I need to finish.

Along with all of those, I have a pretty good representation of Stephen King and Dean Koontz in my collection as well, though the Dark Tower series by King is probably my FAVORITE set of books, I've read it 3 times and find something new each time that makes the story make more sense. It's great.

I've also got a long list of various series and author's I'd like to read. Looking forward to digging into new books.

I'm kind of a homebody, and nothing makes me happier than turning on some music, picking up a book, pouring a hot cup of coffee (or iced coffee!), grabbing a baked goodie and settling in for a while. Music, reading, coffee, food. My loves in life aside from my husband and cats. :)

And that's me!

~Mandy
